Why boilers are the awkward job
Replacing a furnace is largely an HVAC job. Replacing a boiler is both trades at once. The expansion tank, circulator pumps, relief valve, zone valves and near boiler piping are all plumbing parts doing a heating job, and getting any of them wrong shortens the life of a brand new boiler.

Before we quote a replacement
Boilers last a long time. A thirty year old boiler that has been serviced is not automatically scrap, and we are not going to tell you it is in order to sell you one.
What we actually look at: whether the heat exchanger is sound, whether the controls and circulators are the real fault, what the existing near boiler piping looks like, and whether the radiators or baseboard in the house are sized for a lower temperature modern boiler. That last one matters and it is the thing most quotes skip.
What we install
Gas fired hot water boilers, including high efficiency condensing units where the venting and the radiators suit them.
Oil fired boilers, which are still common in the older and more rural parts of our area.
Steam boilers. Steam is its own skill and a lot of companies have quietly stopped doing it. We have not. If you have a steam system and you have been told to convert the whole house, get a second opinion first.
Combination units that handle heating and domestic hot water together, where it makes sense for the property.
Radiant floor heating is a related job and we cover that too.
The honest part about high efficiency
A condensing boiler only reaches its advertised efficiency if it can run at a low return water temperature. In a house with old cast iron radiators sized for a hot system, it may spend most of the winter never condensing, which means paying for efficiency you do not get. We will tell you when that is your situation rather than quoting the biggest number on the brochure.
What it costs
The $85 diagnostic applies if we are diagnosing a fault first, and it is waived for service plan members. Replacement pricing depends on the boiler, the fuel, the state of the existing piping and whether venting has to change. You get the number before anything is ordered. Financing through Wisetack runs from $500 to $65,000 for approved applicants.

My boiler is thirty years old. Do I have to replace it?
Not necessarily. We will price the repair and the replacement and let you decide with both numbers in front of you.
Will you work on a steam system?
Yes, service and replacement. Steam is not a reason for us to walk away.
Can I keep my existing radiators?
Usually yes. Whether they suit a condensing boiler is a separate question and we will answer it honestly.
How long does a replacement take?
Most straightforward swaps are a day or two. Jobs where the near boiler piping or venting has to be rebuilt take longer, and we will say so up front rather than discovering it on site.
