Ductless Mini Split Installation in Easton, PA

A ductless mini split is a heat pump that skips the ductwork. An outdoor unit connects to one or more indoor heads through a small line set, and each head heats and cools the space it is in. For a room that has never been comfortable, it is usually the most sensible answer available.

Plumbing Pros installs and services ductless systems across Easton, Bethlehem, Nazareth, Wilson and the surrounding Lehigh Valley.

When a mini split is the right answer

  • A converted attic, basement or garage. Spaces that were never on the original ductwork and never will be without tearing into the house.
  • An addition or a sunroom. Extending existing ductwork often starves the rest of the house. A mini split does not touch it.
  • One room that is always too hot or too cold. Very common in older Easton homes, where an upstairs bedroom or a back room sits at the end of a duct run that was never balanced.
  • A house with no ductwork at all. Homes heated by boilers and radiators have no way to deliver central air. A ductless system adds cooling without installing ducts.
  • A home office or a workshop you want to condition without heating or cooling the whole house to do it.

What makes them worth the money

  • No duct losses. Ducts running through unconditioned attics and crawl spaces lose a meaningful share of what they carry. Ductless has none of that.
  • Real zoning. Each head is controlled separately, so you are not paying to condition rooms nobody is in.
  • They heat as well as cool, and modern cold climate models keep useful heating capacity well below freezing.
  • They are quiet. The compressor is outside and the indoor heads are much quieter than a window unit.
  • Installation is far less invasive than adding ductwork. The line set needs a small penetration through the wall.

What we do on an installation

  • Assess the space and calculate the load rather than guessing at the head size, because an oversized head short cycles and never removes humidity properly
  • Plan head placement for airflow and for how the room is actually used
  • Plan the line set route and the outdoor unit position, including how it will be serviced and how it will handle snow
  • Mount, run the line set, evacuate the lines properly and charge to specification
  • Set up the condensate drain, which is the detail most commonly done badly and the one most likely to cause damage later
  • Electrical connection and commissioning, then a walk through with you

Single zone or multi zone

A single zone system is one outdoor unit to one indoor head, and it is the straightforward fix for one problem room. A multi zone system runs several heads from one outdoor unit, which suits a whole floor or a house with no ductwork.

Multi zone is not automatically better. Sizing gets more complicated and one oversized head can affect how the whole system behaves. We will tell you which your house actually needs.

What it costs

Cost depends on the number of heads, the capacity, and how difficult the line set route and electrical work are. We quote after seeing the space. Financing through Wisetack is available from $500 to $65,000 for approved applicants, and our published service fees are on the pricing page.

Maintenance people skip

Mini splits need their filters cleaned regularly, far more often than people expect, and the indoor coil and blower wheel need periodic proper cleaning. A neglected head develops a musty smell, and by then it needs a deep clean rather than a wipe down. Our service plans cover the annual visit.

Common questions

Can one outdoor unit handle my whole house?

Sometimes, depending on the size of the house and the number of heads. We will calculate it rather than promise it.

Do they work when it is genuinely cold?

Cold climate models hold useful heating capacity well below freezing. Standard models do not perform as well, and the difference matters in this area, so it is worth asking which you are being quoted.

How visible are the indoor units?

Wall mounted heads are the most common and the most affordable. Ceiling cassette and floor mounted options exist if appearance matters, and we can show you what fits the room.

Will one head heat a whole floor?

It will heat the room it is in well and adjacent rooms poorly. Air does not turn corners. If you need several rooms comfortable, you need several heads or a different approach, and we will say so.

Is it noisy outside?

Far quieter than a traditional condenser, though placement still matters near a bedroom window or a neighbour’s property line.
